My Story
Welcome to Hartwell Counseling. I'm Elizabeth, and I'm so glad you found your way here. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Oviedo, FL. I became a therapist because I believe every person's story matters, and that no one should have to navigate their hardest chapters alone.
Born and raised in Winter Springs, Florida, I have called Central Florida home my entire life. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, and returned to Rollins to complete my Master's in Mental Health Counseling and a certificate in Family and Relationship Therapy. My clinical training included working with adolescents in substance abuse recovery, advocacy work with Equality Florida in support of the LGBTQ+ community, and a clinical internship with children and families affected by trauma — where I developed meaningful experience in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and witnessed firsthand the extraordinary resilience people carry through their hardest moments.
After graduate school, I worked with clients and families in both private and public settings before opening Hartwell Counseling in 2019. In my private practice, I serve individuals and families, offering both in-person and secure telehealth sessions for clients throughout Florida.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, singing, decorating, and spending time with my husband, my three daughters, and two puppies, as well as extended family and friends.
My greatest passion is helping people feel more connected — to themselves, to the people they love, and to the life they most want to live. I believe that when we develop self-compassion and a deeper understanding of our own values, we reclaim the power to write our own story.
Built on the belief that everyone deserves to feel safe, accepted, and heard.
Hartwell Counseling is a proudly LGBTQ+ affirming practice that celebrates diversity in every form. Every client deserves to feel genuinely seen and respected — regardless of background, identity, or life circumstance.
