Individual counseling is a private, collaborative process that helps you explore your personal story, understand your patterns, and navigate life's transitions with clarity and intention. Together, you and your counselor will create a tailored treatment plan to fit your goals. Sessions generally take place weekly for 60-minutes, however duration and frequency can be discussed and adjusted as needed.

Career counseling is a focused, one-on-one process that helps you gain clarity about your professional goals and what challenges you want to take on next. Sessions are 60-minutes and focus on identifying your values and strengths through assessment and exploration, navigating transitions, and building a concrete, tailored plan that you can feel confident about.

If your family is struggling with communication, recurring conflict, boundary issues, or feeling disconnected, family therapy can help. It uses a systems approach to address the patterns affecting the whole family — not just one person's behavior. Family counseling sessions are typically 90-minutes, and a family treatment plan will be created to address the needs and goals of each family member equally.

The first session is focused on getting to know each other and understanding your goals, history, and what brings you in. Your counselor will ask questions and listen carefully to learn more about what you would like to accomplish in counseling, and answer any questions you may have. Together, you will discuss the format, frequency, and plan for future sessions.

Yes. Hartwell Counseling is a proudly LGBTQ+ affirming practice that celebrates diversity in all forms. Every client deserves to feel genuinely seen, respected, and understood — regardless of identity or background.

Hartwell Counseling does not accept insurance at this time. However, clients are welcome to seek third-party reimbursement directly from their insurance provider. Your therapist will provide whatever assistance is possible in helping you access the benefits you are entitled to — though full payment of service fees remains the client's responsibility.

We encourage you to contact your insurance provider in advance to understand exactly what mental health services your policy covers. Upon request, your therapist can provide a bill for you to submit directly to your insurer. Please note that Hartwell Counseling cannot guarantee reimbursement.

Please be aware that submitting a claim to your insurance company will require the assignment of a clinical diagnosis and may, in some cases, require the release of additional information about your treatment, which will then become part of your insurance records.

There is no one-size-fits-all timeline. Some clients find clarity in a handful of sessions, while others benefit from ongoing, longer-term support. Progress is reviewed regularly and the approach adapts to your needs and goals.

Hartwell Counseling offers both in-person sessions at our office in Oviedo, as well as secure telehealth sessions for clients throughout Florida.

Confidentiality is fundamental to the counseling relationship. Everything discussed in sessions is private, with limited exceptions required by Florida law — such as situations involving risk of harm to self or others, or suspected abuse. You'll receive a full informed consent agreement before your first session.
